Want to know how to get from Bangkok to Ko Kood? I’ve got you covered!!
Ko Kood is an island located in the Trat region in the far eastern portion of Thailand. Often spelled as Koh Kood or Koh Kut, it’s quite literally the definition of tropical paradise with its gorgeous beach, lush landscapes and laid-back vibe.
Fortunately Ko Kood isn’t on the bucket list of the hoards of tourists visiting Thailand. One reason is the location since Koh Kood is located around 320km from Bangkok. Also, Ko Kood has no airport so getting there involves a combination of land and sea transport. These challenges, for better or worse, keep Ko Kood somewhat off the beaten path, attracting curious travelers rather than mass tourism.

Arriving in Koh Kood
Ferries dock at Ao Salad pier in Northeast Koh Kood. However all the hotels and amenities are located along the west coast.
The island doesn’t really have public transport. The only option to get to your hotel is to use a songtaew which is a pick up van with fitted benches in the back. If there is enough passengers, the driver may group enogh passengers together and then go round dropping everyone at their hotel. This would be the cheapest option as the total cost would be shared. You can expect to pay between ฿100 and ฿200 for the shared option.
Songtaews also operate similar to a taxi where you will ride privately. They don’t have a meter however so its important to agree on a price before accepting the ride.
If you have a hotel reservation you can also check if they offer shuttle service from the pier as certain hotels may offer this service for free and for a reasonable price.
Where to stay in Koh Kood
Koh Kood is an underdeveloped island with most of the hotels and amenities located on the west coast. While there are pockets with a small cluster of hotels and restaurants, the majority of amenities are spread out. For this reason you may want to consider renting a scooter. A lot of the roads are concrete and in good condition and traffic isn’t an issue so using a scooter is the best solution to explore and move around freely.
